Meet Jonathan

Jonathan Kindler is a licensed professional counselor, professor, and trusted voice in the field of counseling. With more than a decade of experience walking with individuals through anxiety, trauma, grief, and relational struggles, Jonathan brings a unique blend of clinical training and spiritual depth to everything he does.

He serves on faculty at Living Faith Bible Institute, where he teaches and shapes the biblical counseling track, equipping students to care for others with both truth and compassion. He is also the founder of Sound Mind Counseling in Kansas City and the host of the Sound Mind podcast, a creative and theologically grounded series that explores emotional health through a biblical lens.

Jonathan’s counseling philosophy is rooted in Scripture and shaped by years of one-on-one work with individuals and families. He is known for creating spaces that feel safe, honest, and emotionally attuned—whether in a counseling session, a classroom, or behind a microphone.

In addition to his teaching and counseling work, Jonathan has spoken at retreats, led intensives on spiritual formation, and co-authored A Path Well Lit, a theological framework for reclaiming the care of souls within the context of the local church or a biblical counseling practice.

This site offers a look into his counseling practice, podcast episodes, and the broader work he’s doing to help people navigate life with clarity, conviction, and care.

Over the years I’ve come back to visit my counselor in difficult transitions in life. It’s been helpful to have someone to talk with who is outside of my sphere that is always there to give me honest feedback.

I was in trouble coming in. I had made a mess of things and my counselor helped me sort things out. Issues, I honestly thought would never change.
