Gossip, Slander, and Relational Conflicts in Church

Overview:

Gossip and slander are sins of speech that violate love, betray trust, and often fracture church unity. Relational conflict in the body of Christ is inevitable (James 3:2), but when handled biblically, it becomes an opportunity for growth, reconciliation, and maturity (Ephesians 4:15–16). Gossip involves speaking about someone behind their back in a way that would displease God or the person discussed. Slander is spreading false or damaging reports. Both reveal deeper heart issues—pride, bitterness, insecurity, or a craving for attention—and must be addressed at the root.
